Issue Position: Economy and Job Creation

Issue Position

Sean believes that improving Mississippi's economy begins with job creation. A business-friendly environment is needed to attract new industries, while encouraging small business and the expansion of existing companies. Sean will work to ease the impediments our bureaucratic government has created for new businesses. In addition, Sean will support the effort to eliminate the inventory tax currently levied against businesses in Mississippi.

Locally, Sean believes that we must expand our shipbuilding and tourism industries, further develop the Stennis Space Center, and maintain our current plans for expansion of the state port in Gulfport. The success of Trinity Yachts in Gulfport should be used as an example of what Mississippi has to offer any company looking to relocate to a business-friendly state. Stennis in Hancock County has seen tremendous growth in recent years and is expected to grow even more in the near future. Companies like Rolls Royce and Lockheed Martin have brought great jobs to the Coast, but we need more companies of this caliber. In order to attract new companies to Mississippi, Sean will support legislation aimed at easing the cost to construct new plants and some tax abatements on improvements made to their industrial sites. Sean also believes that we must encourage those who accept jobs with Mississippi companies to live in Mississippi. By doing this, our local small businesses would be assured the necessary demand to sell their services.

Sean is the only candidate for State Senate District 49 to be endorsed by BIPEC (Business and Industry Political Education Committee) as "Best for Job Creation." See BIPEC Endorsement
